OUR INTERNATIONAL ADVOCACY

We engage in international advocacy and campaigns to hold accountable actors who are historically or currently responsible for the human rights abuses faced by the Maasai in Tanzania. These range from the German or British governments, the EU and and the US through their policies or funding programs, UNESCO, conservation organisations and private sector actors, especially those active in hunting, carbon credits or tourism.

We attend global climate and biodiversity conservation discussions as well as UN arenas dedicated to human rights and Indigenous Peoples to make our plight visible and hold the government of Tanzania accountable.

We build alliances with other Indigenous Peoples and civil society organisations to make our voices heard through stronger coalitions. Our engagement and campaign strategies vary between different actors and across scales, but they converge on conservation, climate action, tourism and hunting as these topics relate to the human rights of the Maasai.
